The record
Syderial decides what a model is given, limits what an agent can do to what the record supports, records what the agent knew, was allowed to see and did, with receipts, and says when the record has nothing to say. What it serves to a model is the context of record.
Adjacent tools
Retrieval finds similar text. The record compiles supported claims inside the reader's clearance, with citations.
Observability logs after the fact. The record says what the model was allowed to see, and which fact replaced which.
A lab sells one model's stack. The record serves any model and outlasts each of them.
The unit of the record
A claim is a statement about the world with its evidence attached. It names who asserted it, the source, when it applied according to that source, when the record learned it, and the boundary it belongs to.
Claims post as lines of an entry. Each line cites its evidence. That’s either a quote of retained source, located by start, end and a hash of the text, or a pointer to another entry.
Two clocks
Valid from and valid to mark when a claim applied, according to its source. Recorded at marks when Syderial learned it. A row updated in place loses the old value; Syderial keeps both.
The record can answer what its sources said applied on a given day, and what the record knew on that day. A review of a decision asks the second question.
The journal
Kept the way books are kept. Each entry is posted once, dated and signed. A correction is a new entry that cites what it corrects, and the corrected entry stays where it was.
Dated, signed, chained to the entry before. Never edited.
A quote of retained source, or a pointer to an entry.
Reader, principal or import, each with a receipt.
New entries that cite what they correct.
Existing journals and notes post as entries.
Properties
Where it came from.
No claim enters without a quoted source span or a pointer to its evidence.
Who said it.
Every entry names a human or agent principal. A model is never an author. Approval adds authority, never authorship.
Who may read it.
A reader gets a claim only when their clearance dominates its label on every axis, compartments included.
When it applied, and when it was known.
Each claim records when it applied and when the record learned it. Conflicts resolve by explicit supersession.
What an agent may do with it.
Each action is checked against the current policy version and the record. The signed receipt verifies offline, years later.
How it works
A harness points at a Syderial door as its provider. Every turn passes through six stations, and every station writes to the same signed record.
